Designed for students to explore their imagination, this unit focuses on designing, sketching, modelling, and painting mythical creatures.
In Lesson 1, students will embark on a captivating journey by designing their own mythical creature. They will unleash their creativity and utilize their artistic skills to bring their unique creature to life. Through peer feedback and improvement, students will provide constructive criticism and make improvements to their partner’s mythical creature drawing. Finally, they will create a final sketch of their own mythical creature, incorporating improvements and adding vibrant colours using pencil crayons.
In Lesson 2, students will delve into the technical aspects of design by transforming their sketches into blueprint designs. This lesson will challenge their attention to detail and precision in technical drawing.
Lesson 3 introduces the tactile experience of working with clay to bring the mythical creatures to life. Students will shape basic forms using clay and explore different techniques to create their desired shapes. They will learn how to join clay pieces securely, ensuring the durability of their clay models.
